Question 1: Does Zmags Mobile work with the new 4G?

Yes, it does. In fact, all versions of iPhones are supported by Zmags, including the new iPhone 4G.

Question 2: When will the Zmags Mobile launch?

Zmags Mobile was launched in BETA mode in June. Right now we’re in the process of collecting feedback and developing its full range of capabilities. In the very near future we’ll have the full version of Zmags Mobile available.

Question 3: What is the cost of the Zmags Mobile solution?

All Zmags customers have automatically been upgraded to the Zmags Mobile BETA version at no additional cost. We carefully considered this decision, and decided that basic access is important, and we wanted to ensure that the content was accessible for all our customers.

Question 4: Will my online browsing experience through a Zmags magazine have the same flow as a printed magazine? Also, can I zoom and toggle between portrait and landscape mode?

Yes it will. When you rotate your mobile device, you will see a single page in portrait mode that fills nearly the entire screen. When rotating the screen to landscape mode, you will be able to see the full spread just like it would appear in a regular magazine.

Question 5: Are there any best practices for optimizing magazines for mobile devices, which Zmags customers should follow?

Yes, there are a couple of best practices to consider. First, as you are creating content for mobile devices, one thing to keep in mind is the font size. Because your content is being displayed on small screens, don’t make the font size too small that the reader will struggle to read it. In addition, Flash content is not yet supported by mobile devices, so before you publish it online, make sure the digital magazine looks appealing even without Flash included.

Question 6: How do I make my existing Zmags publication readable on a mobile device?

The good news: you don’t have to do anything . One of the big advantages is that existing Zmags publications are backwards-compatible and are automatically optimized for mobile devices. Yet, you can still manage the distribution and access permissions, just as you normally do in Zmags Publicator.

Question 7: Can I customize the mobile viewer by adding links to it or by making it a branded mobile app?

These features are not available in the BETA version. We are currently working on developing more features to Zmags Mobile, so you can create a branded experience just like with the Web viewer.

Question 8: Will Zmags Mobile work if it is framed into an existing website?

It will be. We are working on delivering a positive experience to customers using embedded viewers. However, it is very important that you utilize most of the screen size when delivering content to mobile devices.

Definitely! You can go to zmags.com/mobile where you’ll find some short-links that are easy to type into the browser on your iPad, iPhone or Android device.
